5 Things You Should Know This Weekend

Here are ways you can make the most of this weekend

1.     It will be Cloudy but then gradually become mostly sunny today. Temperatures will reach a high near 66. County officials are warning of a cold snap Sunday, so they’re opening overnight shelters Saturday and Sunday.

2.   Those shelters will open up at 6 p.m. on both Saturday, Feb. 11, and Sunday, Feb. 12:

  • The Holy Ground Shelter: 8835 Denton Ave. in Hudson. Families accepted.
  • The Christian Church: 34921 Chauncy Road in Zephyrhills. Families accepted. Call: 813-810-8670.
  • Impact Family Ministries: 5533 River Gulf Road in Port Richey. Families accepted. Call: 727-869-6426.

 Families can contact Angela Littlefield at 727-247-9448 if they need a hote voucher, but theyre is a limited number available.

3.  The parents of Kiley Griggs, a young girl with cerebral palsy, have entered her into another online contest to win money to continue to fund an intensive therapy. The Griggs’ dream is for Kiley to walk. They won in an online contest last year money for a therapy that has so far helped her grow stronger. This new contest, the Disney, I Heart My Family Photo Contest, could net them $500, which they need for future sessions of the same therapy.
