Bogart is 'Done'
Kim Bogart's campaign has come to an end and the Democrat says he won't seek the Pasco County Sheriff's seat again.
Pasco County Sheriff candidate Kim Bogart was hosting a watch party in the kitchen of his New Port Richey area home Tuesday night when it became clear voting wasn't going in his favor.
Bogart’s most recent bid to become Pasco County’s top cop came to an end even before it was reported that votes from all precincts in Pasco had been tallied.
Bogart, 60, is a former captain and major with the Pasco sheriff’s office.
He hoped to oust incumbent Sheriff Chris Nocco. He ran his campaign this election season under the slogan "Public Safety, Not Politics."
But early voting and absentee results alone, projected on a TV in Bogart’s home, showed Nocco was gaining the upper hand on Election Night by a large margin.
Then precinct numbers started coming in. Bogart's family and supporters, about 15-20 people in all, were there to see.
Bogart was loathe to discuss the polling results.
“I congratulate Chris on his win,” he said. “I have a team that worked very hard.”
Bogart had run against Nocco’s predecessor Bob White for the job of sheriff in 2008 and lost by 4,000 votes.
When asked if he was going to run again, he said “I’m done.”
With 108 of 110 precincts reporting in, Bogart garnered 68,428 votes or 34.87 percent in Tuesday's race. Nocco had 127,813 or 65.13 percent of the vote.

What a shame that we got stuck with Nocco, who cares about the people about as much as a hooker in church. I've had the unopportunity to try and talk with this man but even during an election year he had no desire to speak to a county resident or try to resolve the issue. Pasco County, you get what you deserve.

I agree with you cindy, it is a shame. Bogart should have won, now we are stuck with Chris Nocco who doesn't give a damn about the people in this county.

You've got to be kidding. I have never seen such a proactive law enforcement leader. He is so respected by those who have taken the time to learn about his attempts, successes and yes - failures. I admire a "cop" who walks the walk like Sheriff Nocco does. Bogart is a PR man - nothing wrong with being a PR man, but not so sure it makes for good Sheriff responsibilities.

Nooco is Bob White all over again. He is nothing more than an opportunistic, photo-op puppet. My house has been robbed twice in thirteen months, and to date no posessions or leads have produced any results. I am an honest, hard working business owner-lived here most of my life. The responding deputy could not figure out how to playback a neighbor'sdvr security camera that was running and would have produced leads. He said he would return in four days and try again. I promise, everyone will see this in the news. I can not get no answers, hopefully the media can. It is sad when your whole life walks out the door, and they will come back at their leisure to help you. Glad I did not vote for you Nocco!

OK, so it's Nocco's fault you've been burglarized? Gimme a break - that's a sign of the times - a downward economy --- we are all responsible for securing our possessions. You can't expect law enforcement to babysit your assets. Govt is responsible for governing - not babysitting us.

Kathleen, I do agree with you regarding who is at fault............but have to say Nocco implemented nanny-state tactics right after appointment.
Did you not see the flashing construction-type signs informing us to "FIGHT CRIME...LOCK YOUR DOORS"
I like to leave my house and spout, "I'm a CRIME fighter as I am locking the door behind me!
We also received another message telling us to......if I remember correctly, "HIDE YOUR VALUABLES.....STOP CRIME"
There was also a sign near the Pasco/Pinellas line informing those turning left into the gated community that the oncoming traffic doesn't stop.
These signs really bothered me due to "whomever" acting as a nanny/babysitter.
How about those internet cafes? Governing or babysitting?
How about targeting stores selling relatively legal substances? Governing or babysitting?
I've referenced this many times, but I would love to see ONE elected servant......Sheriff......actually investigate local MD's who were compliant with this fraud. Local children and the elderly were the victims of this fraud......we have both old and young residing in Pasco County, the very County Nocco claims to want to protect.
I seriously want to see my tax dollars at work truly protecting me. Closing down the "pill mills" is nothing more than political theatre in my eyes when there's Walgreen's/CVS mills on every corner.
Some of us want REAL action, not this fluff that gives people the allusion of action.

Burglary is a sign of a downward economy.....oh please...there has always been burglary and it has nothing to do with the economy. More propoganda. And Nocco obviously isn't interested in learning of the problems of the people of Pasco or he would have talked with me when I called his office several times instead of having some lady from his office call me back who knew absolutely nothing and gave me no answers to the problem I was addressing. I then got a canned letter from him. And ya, those Internet Cafes...so glad he got all those old people under control congregating in those cafes quietly play their slot games and having a bit of fun and some free food, while the strip clubs are still going strong reinforcing that Tampa is well known country wide for their strip clubs. Pasco needs to get their priorities straight and get some good Police leadership, and thats not under Nocco.

@Samuel Clemens - have you considered contacting the Pasco BOCC to address this issue, or is it just easier to blame the new guy? --
@Cindy - wait Sheriff Nocco, Cindy is on the phone -- drop everything and listen to her.
Grow up - Crime increases as the economy spirals downward. Those with even half a brain know this is true. "oh please" yourself.
The nation is now full of "gimmee gimmee gimmee" and "do it for me so I can rest on my laurels and waste more tax $$$" Shalom & Kyrie Eleison

Kathleen, the alerts first appeared after Nocco was appointed.....not placing blame on anybody.....it's obvious the new office decided upon this.
The lunacy speaks volumes.......What could I say to change any persons mind regarding this?
As for me contacting them regarding the elderly and youth being pharmaceutical pin cushions, well, I'm well aware of the ways of the world and though I hold out some hope, I do not anticipate seeing any criminal MD in cuffs via a Sheriff investigation.
BIG FYI: I've wasted enough time contacting so-called elected representatives.

By the way, those absolute statements like "everybody knows blah, blah, blah" are usually wrought with errors. I remember hearing Chuck Colson speak of this a few years ago:
www.religiontoday.com/columnists/breakpoint/we-need-better-experts-crime-and-poverty.html
Being that I verified what I thought to be "true," I decided to check some 2012 info:
www.csmonitor.com/USA/2012/0612/US-violent-crime-rate-down-for-fifth-straight-year
www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2012/jul/19/murder-rate-falls-crime-figures
Contrary to what "everybody knows," Cain did not kill Abel due to a down economy........sadly, the blame can be placed solely on the human condition.

Um yes Kathleen, I do expect him to talk with me and address my issues. I pay his salary and he is suppose to be protecting me and my family. Get over yourself and your love of Nocco. Another brainwashed Republican I see...typical of the Pasco County righties who don't have a clue.
