Charges Pile Up on Serial Electronics Theft Suspect
He’s been connected to a string of thefts in West Pasco, Pinellas and Hernando counties.
A New Port Richey man already behind bars in connection with a slew of electronics thefts now faces new charges out of Pinellas County.
Joseph Paul Savarese, 26, of 7112 Jenner Ave. was first arrested June 12 in connection with a theft and on a Pasco County warrant for failure to appear in court. He was also connected to a string of retail grand thefts that took place all over West Pasco and Hernando counties in the early summer. During those thefts, Savarese is accused of taking thousands of dollars in merchandise from stores like Target, Best Buy and Macy’s.
Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies have charged him with theft of such items as televisions, PlayStation 3 video game consoles and other electronic devices.
On Sept. 14, Pinellas County officials came forward with two more charges to add to Savarese’s list. He now faces two counts of grand theft out of that county.
Savarese remains in the Land O’ Lakes Jail on more than a dozen charges of retail theft and grand theft. He also faces a dealing in stolen property charge.
According to jail records, Savarese is no stranger to the Pasco County jail system. He has been arrested multiple times since 2006 on charges ranging from domestic battery and theft to resisting arrest.
