Homeless Man Sexually Battered Girl, Deputies Say
Don Hughes remains in jail on multiple
A homeless man stands accused of sexually battering a preteen girl in New Port Richey.
According to an arrest report from the Pasco Sheriff’s Office, a deputy recently made contact with a 12 year-old girl. She told him that a man came into her bedroom this past May. He fondled her and told her he needed to teach her what boys and men will do to her.
He exposed his genitals and told her to touch them, and she did. He then performed sex acts on her.
She was afraid of the man because he is big and strong.
Authorities arrested Don Hughes, 42, on Friday and charged him with sexual battery.
Hughes was already in jail on a different charge when he was accused of the battery. Earlier that day, a deputy had conducted a traffic stop on Hughes. Hughes admitted to smoking marijuana. The deputy removed Hughes' hat and found a bag of pot stuck to his head, according to an arrest report
On the way to the Land O' Lakes Jail, Hughes threatened to harm the deputy anfd the deputy's family.
In that case, he was charged with possession of marijuana and threat to a public servant.
Hughes remained in jail Monday in lieu of $11,100 bond.
