One day recently, a Holiday woman found almost all of her jewelry had gone missing, along with her coin collection, according to Pasco County Sheriff's deputies.
She had been away from her home in the 3700 block of Springfield Drive for a few months overseas and just returned home, she told deputies, according to an incident report.
The woman told deputies her house was broken into last week, and firearms were stolen from within. She also discovered almost all her jewelry was gone and her coin collection was missing.
She told deputies that there were some gold items of jewelry remaining, which made her suspicious. The woman told deputies her son’s girlfriend, Brandi Frankart, had been living at the home and had a “known drug addiction,” according to the report.
The woman and her daughter confronted Frankart, and she admitted to taking coins and jewelry little by little over the course of months. Deputies were called, and Frankart admitted to taking the items.
Frankart told deputies she has a drug addiction and needed the money to support it. She sold the stolen items to a local pawn shop. Frankart said she knew what she did was wrong and she was sorry.
The total value of the stolen items was approximated to be $55,000.
Frankart, 24, was arrested Monday and charged with grand theft. She remained in the Land O' Lakes jail Tuesday in lieu of $2,000 bail.
