Dog Attacks Baby in Holiday

Pasco County officials say the dog, believed to be a pit bull, attacked a 10-month-old baby on Friday afternoon.

An infant was attacked by a neighbor's dog around 2 p.m. Friday in Holiday, according to authorities.

The incident occurred on the 2100 block of Ranchita Trail and wasn't reported until Friday evening, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.

Officials say the child's mother and neighbor were outside when they heard the dog growling inside. Upon entry to the home, they found the dog attacking the child. The dog is believed to be a pit bull, authorities said.

Pasco Sheriff's deputies and Pasco Animal Control are investigating the case, while the 10-month-old's condition is not being released. The child received bites to his head and shoulder, according to officials.
