Early voting has started, and Angela Roberts is one of the people who has cast her ballot this week.

Roberts, of New Port Richey, will be  away during the general election on Nov. 6, and "it's very important" that she votes, she said.

"I don't like the things that Obama has been doing, and I wanted a change," she said.

Roberts voted in favor of Romney for president. She cast her ballot Wednesday and then accompanied her husband to the West Pasco Government Center Thursday as he cast a vote.  

In Central Pasco, dozens of people lined up to cast their ballots on Wednesday at the Land O' Lakes Library. The wait time was about 20 minutes, but that didn’t seem to bother those patiently standing in the queue.

“It’s better than it will be next week,” responded more than one person when asked why they turned out for Early Voting.

Jasmine Boykin’s answer was a little different. The 18-year-old was there to cast her very first ballot.

“It’s my first election,” she explained. “I was excited.”

Boykin said she worked on a campaign and just couldn’t wait until Nov. 6 to vote her choices.

Early Voting began in Pasco County on Oct. 27 and continues through Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. As of 2 p.m. on Nov. 1 a total of 38,837 people had turned out in Pasco to vote early. Another 49,758 people cast absentee ballots, according to the Pasco County Supervisor of Elections office.

The county has established seven locations for voters to use during this period. Registered voters in Pasco County can report to any of the seven locations to cast their ballot between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Voters in the West Pasco area have four  locations to choose from:

South Holiday Branch Library

West Pasco Government Center

• 8731 Citizens Drive, Suite 110

Regency Park Branch Library

• 9701 Little Road

Hudson Regional Library

• 8012 Library Road

How Long is The Wait?

The wait times vary by location and time of the day. The supervisor of elections, however, has a map that shows the anticipated wait times at each location. The map is updated throughout the day to give voters an accurate picture of what to expect when they arrive.

What to Bring to Early Voting

Identification is required to vote in Florida. State law calls for both photo and signature identification. This means it’s best to bring a Florida driver’s license or a state identification card to the polls. If this type of identification isn’t available, voters can present two separate forms of identification that include a combination of the following:

• U.S. passport
• Military ID
• Debit or credit card
• Student ID
• Retirement Center ID
• Neighborhood Association ID
• Public Assistance ID
