Full Thanksgiving Break Back On in West Pasco Schools
The district made the announcement today.
West Pasco parents concerned that the Pasco County School District would have to cut Thanksgiving break short to make up for a hurricane day declared during Tropical Storm Isaac can breathe a little easier.
Superintendent Heather Fiorentino made the announcement at today’s school board meeting that the full-week vacation is back on. Fiorentino said district officials looked at everything and decided the Aug. 27 hurricane day didn’t have to be made up.
When the district set its calendar for the year, it built in two possible makeup days for hurricanes during Thanksgiving break. Since one of those days was used during Isaac, it has been unclear if the scheduled weeklong break would stand as is or need to be shortened.
Based on today’s announcement, West Pasco students can expect a full week off during the holiday. The break is set for Nov. 19-23.
What do you think about the decision? Are you glad your kids will have the whole week off? Let us know in the comments section.
