Looking for something fun to do with the kids tonight or Saturday, or just  searching for something cool to do on a Friday or Saturday night out?

Check out some of the highlights of activities and fun things going on in the area today, Feb. 1, and tomorrow, Feb. 2.

Friday, Feb. 1

Fresh Friday Night Farmer's Market & Art Event

Time: 5-9 p.m.

Location: Downtown New Port Richey. The farmers market event is located in Railroad Square in New Port Richey, one block east of Grand Boulevard on Nebraska Avenue, and Cavalaire Square, one block East of Grand between Nebraska and Missouri avenues.

Cost: The market is free to attend, but the goods cost money.   

Why go?: The market offers fresh air shopping in downtown. Products offered include plants, produce, jellies, jams, baked goods and crafts.

First Friday Night Open Reception: 3 Exhibits

Time: 6 p.m.

Location: Progress Energy Art Gallery. 6231 Grand Blvd., New Port Richey, FL

Cost: Free

Why go?:  The art galley opening features not one, not two but three exhibits. They are the Florida Landscape Artists, Red Hot! Celebrating the Color Red and an exhibition of student artwork. The gallery is also right around the corner from the farmer’s market.

 

Free Family Movie

Time: 7 p.m.

Location: Living Faith Community Church of The Nazarene, 11038 Little Road, New Port Richey

Cost: Free

Why go?: You get to see a family friendly movie for free. Post-movie snacks will also be provided.

Black History Month Display

Time: 1-4 p.m., Friday, Saturday.

Location: 6431 Circle Blvd., New Port Richey

Why go?: Planners are endeavoring to set up a display in honor of Black History Month in the West Pasco Historical Society's headquearters. The hope is to open it Friday. When it opens, It will be open throughout February on Fridays and Saturdays, 1-4 p.m.

    Joseppis Friday Night Cruising

    Time: 5 p.m.

    Location: 9721 U.S. Highway 19, Port Richey

    Cost: Free to attend

    Why go?: Joseppi’s is holding a car show, and you can also stop in to the restaurant.

    "Will Run 4 Chocolate" 5 K and family fun run

    Location: Starkey Park,  10500 Wilderness Park Blvd  New Port Richey, FL 34655

    Time: 8 a.m.

    Cost: Unavailable

    Why go: It's planned by local business Hammertime Fitness and Landon Plastic Surgery. Proceedsbenefit the Landon Outreach Foundation. Packets can be picked up Friday at Hammertime Fitness.

     

     

     Cotee River Flute Circle Meeting

    Time: Lessons start at 10:30 am, flute circle is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

    Location: New Port Richey Public Library, 5939 Main St, New Port Richey,

    Cost: Free

    Why go?: The flute circle is a way for beginners or experienced players of the the Native American flute to gather and share music and lessons.

    Crystal Bowl Meditation Experience

    Time: 10 a.m.

    Location: Peace Hall, right across from Sims Park in New Port Richey

    Cost: $20

    Why go?: Crystal bowl meditation benefits the body, mind and spirt, planners say. The session is hosted by Ronald Hays, a St. Petersburg-based motivational speaker and author.
