There’s a new place to shop for electronics and appliances in West Pasco.
Retail chain h.h. gregg held a grand opening for its new 411 Tacoma Drive location in Port Richey on Thursday. The national retailer is known for its electronics selection, including televisions and appliances.
The company is headquartered in Indianapolis. This is the eighth h.h. gregg in the Tampa Bay area and 35th in Florida, according to a press release. The new store hired around 60 people.
The Suncoast News reports that a Burlington Coat Factory is also opening its doors in the same shopping plaza Nov. 16.

The paper reports that John Hagen, president of the Pasco Economic Development Council, pointed to the arrival of retailers as a sign the local economy is rebounding.
On the southern side of the Cotee River, New Port Richey city officials are also anticipating arrivals of new businesses.
"(Development Director) Lisa Fierce reported on a number of new businesses proposed for New Port Richey," Deputy Mayor Marlowe said in a comment on Patch. "I'm quite excited to see some progress in this regard."
What do you think? Is this the type of development West Pasco needs, or should we be doing more to cultivate small businesses in the region? Is the arrival of retail chains really a sign of a rebound, or is it just a sign that people are looking for discounts?
