Holiday Parade Brings Cheer Downtown

The 36th annual Holiday Street parade features an appearance from Santa Claus.

Holiday cheer returns to downtown New Port Richey this weekend.

That’s right. It’s almost time for the 36th annual Holiday Street Parade, the popular celebration organized by the Rotary Club of Holiday.  The parade is hitting the streets at 6 p.m. on Dec. 8.

The parade is a tradition in town, and it features 127 participating units and an appearance from the Jolly Old Elf, Santa Claus.

“Santa’s already sent his message from the pole,” said Greg Armstrong, a longtime Rotary club member who plans the parade. “He’ll be here.”

Armstrong emphasizes the parade is an event that’s for the kids. In addition to Santa Claus, there will be marching bands from local schools, krewes and other fun you expect from a family friendly hometown parade.  It’s put on this year with the help of 200 volunteers.
