Man Charged in Fatal Hit-and-Run

A man walked into the path of Scott Alexander Isenberg's pickup in Holiday and was hit, authorites say.

A Dunedin man has been charged in connection to a hit-and-run crash in Holiday that claimed a pedestrian’s life, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Holiday resident Joseph VanDoren, 31, was walking across U.S. 19 north of Beacon Square Drive around 9 p.m. on April 10 when he crossed into the path of an oncoming 2004 Ford pickup that was headed south on 19.

The pickup, driven by Scott Alexander Isenberg, of 827 Scotland St., Dunedin, hit VanDoren as he walked into the southbound outside lane.

The pickup then fled, according to the initial incident report.

VanDoren was taken to a hospital in Trinity, where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash. He had not not used a crosswalk while walking across 19.

Scott was arrested Wednesdayesday. He was charged with one count of leaving the scene of a crash involving a death.
