Man Crashes into Deputy’s Car, Gets Away

Pasco County deputies say the man, who has an extensive criminal background, is wanted on a number of charges.

The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office is asking area residents to keep their eyes out for a man they say is wanted on a number of charges.

Anthony Batta, 24, was last seen in the Moon Lake area, according to a sheriff’s office media release. Around 8:30 a.m. today, Nov. 10, Batta crashed into a deputy’s cruiser, drove about a mile and fled on foot. The vehicle he was using was seized, but Batta remains at large.

Batta was last seen in the area of 12544 Catalona Ave. in Moon Lake. He is described as being 6 feet, 3 inches tall and has a number of tattoos. “He is a known gang member and considered armed and dangerous,” the media release said.

Residents are urged to avoid contact with Batta. Instead, they should call the sheriff’s office immediately.

Batta’s prior arrests have included home invasion robbery, possession of cocaine, auto theft, resisting arrest with violence and fleeing. He is currently wanted for leaving the scene of a crash with an injury and fleeing to elude.

The deputy involved in this morning’s crash received minor injuries, the release said. He was treated and released from the hospital.

Anyone with information about Batta’s whereabouts is asked to call the sheriff’s office at  727-844-7711.
