Mother, Son Arrested For Attempted Homicide Of New Port Richey Man

A third suspect is at large. The victim, who lives in Moon Lake, is listed in critical condition, authorities say.

A New Port Richey man remains in critical condition after being savagely beaten and robbed by three people — including a woman he met on a dating website and had invited to live with him.

The 44-year-old man’s name has not been released, but the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Bobbie Jo Curtis, 40, and her son Bryan Curtis, 16, in connection with the crime.

Authorities said Bobbie Joe Curtis met the man on singlesnet.com and then began living with him at his Midvale Avenue home in Moon Lake.

After staying there a week, authorities said Curtis and her son — also living at the address — allegedly tied the homeowner up, beat him and took household items and guns. Authorities said a third woman was also involved in the crime, and has yet to be located. She is being urged to turn herself in to authorities.

“The 44-year-old victim's 69-year-old neighbor witnessed the suspects putting his neighbor's property into his van and questioned the suspects as to the wellbeing of his 44-year-old neighbor,” a sheriff's office news release states. “When the 69-year-old neighbor started going into the home, he was hit in the head with a baseball bat.”

The elderly neighbor later regained consciousness and called 911, authorities said. He did not receive life-threatening injuries.

The trio left the scene with the 44-year-old man’s white van, authorities said.

Acting on a tip, authorities found Bobbie Joe Curtis and her son at the Riverside Inn in New Port Richey and arrested the pair. They were charged with unlawful imprisonment, aggravated battery, attempted homicide and grand theft auto. They are being booked into Land O’Lakes Jail.

A third suspect remains at large as does the white Ford van with Florida plates 366 TQH.

Anyone who sees this van should contact the Pasco Sheriff's Office at 727-844-7711.

This is just two doors down from me. Contrary to TV reporter's comments, this is a very quiet street usually. There may be drug sales, but they aren't obvious like in town. And there is unemployment, but where isn't there? Many of the homeowners and renters in this corner of Moon Lake are self-employed or hard-working individuals. Neighbors help each other in times of need. We've been here since 1984, and glad of it.

Thank you so much for your support. My uncle was the victim & he's in critical condition but recently I heard he is getting better. My uncle always made people laugh and all he wanted was to make others happy. In July, I went to visit him with my Grandparents & we had such a great time. I'm so shocked this happened but my family and I are praying for his recovery. This event shows how sick some people are out there and they need to suffer for what they did. Karma will come back & smack these assholes right in the face.
