New Port Richey Patch Whiz Kid of the Week: Nickolas Hill

This weeks New Port Richey Patch Whiz Kid honoree goes to Nick Hill for his accomplishments at the Career Education Club of Florida State Leadership Conference.

Nickolas Hill, 18,

Accomplishment: Placed in three different competitions at the state qualifying level for the Career Education Club of Florida State Conference Meeting. The competitions Nickolas placed in are: Economics (1st place), Human Resources (2nd place), and Video Production (4th  place). Hill spent approximently ten hours total studying and preparing for all of his competitions. Video Production took the most time, with the filming and editing portions of the project being the most time consuming. The Economics competition was open to state qualifiers, which Hill decided to attend at the last minute. He said it helped to have taken economics, which his mother, Melissa Hill, teaches at River Ridge.

What do you want to study after high school? "I would like to go into public speaking, or video production. I would love to be a radio announcer, or even get into broadcasting."

What advice do you have for future students competing in these events? "Take as many as you can, keep a positive attitude and work hard. Take everything that you can."

What’s an aspect you enjoyed the most about the state competition? "Meeting new people and seeing all the schools competing. My favorite thing was competing. I like competition because I may not be the most physical, but I can solve a math problem and tell you anything about a book (I’ve read).”
