Pasco County Commission Chairman Ted Schrader, 57, was arrested Feb. 3 on one count of domestic battery.
According to a Pasco County Sheriff’s Office complaint affidavit, the incident that led to the arrest brewed over the course of the weekend starting with an argument on Friday night. Around 9 a.m. on Saturday, Schrader entered his wife Julia’s bedroom.
When she turned “to her left side” to avoid confrontation, Schrader “grabbed the victim’s left wrist and left leg and pulled her towards him against her will,” the report said.
The Schraders, who have been married for about 30 years, according to the report, have separate bedrooms.
The act, according to an incident report, left three half-inch bruises on Julia Scrader’s left forearm and wrist, but she refused medical treatment.
Prior to arrest, Ted Schrader admitted to grabbing his wife, the report said.
Schrader, a Republican, is serving his fourth term on the Pasco County Commission.
He and his wife reside in San Antonio and have three children.
Schrader was released from the Land O' Lakes jail on $250 bond Monday afternoon, according to jail records.

Don't condemn him until we know the details. Any woman can accuse any man of anything. What I don't get is he's being held without bond? I thought anybody could bond out except if they are in for murder?

Domestic Abuse is different. When someone gets picked up on domestic abuse they must sit in jail until they are brought before a judge. By law that appearance must take place within 48 hours. I too will wait for the story to come out on this one because you would be surprised how easy it is to have someone taken to jail on a domestic charge. Law Enforcement can't take any chances on domestic calls and are required to make an arrest.
It wasn't too long ago a New Port Richey government figure was involved in a domestic case. When the real story came out I was very sympathetic to the situation.

Hugh... you are correct. I've had friends who have been falsely accused of D.B.
It just makes me wonder about him since he hates animals and won't do anything to help the situation at Pasco County Animal Services.
Doesn't sound like a man I want on MY BOCC.

The alleged comment on animals is disturbing, Is it on record somewhere? I've never heard it come up before.

It isn't a knee jerk reaction. If his wife drove him to it, he should still have walked away & he did say he wanted to shoot poor animals. Many people find that very Republican of him. It stands to reason that a "bill o'really" quoter would support him.

The public humiliation he gets from this will be great. He may lose his job and be knocked down in prestige among his peers. He deserves it. Anyone who wants to shoot stray animals is a heartless SOB. Even if his wife is a 'B', which she might, or might not be; that's no reason to lose it & injure her.
If nothing else comes out of this, he is now labeled as the sleeze bag he has proven himself to be. People like him prove what they are, day in & day out, by the things that they do & say.

He has just proven he is a bad man. The simple story tells it like it happened. The wife turn to her side to "avoid" the confrontation she knew that was coming after 30 years of knowing and living with a person. How dare he man handle her as if she was his property? She has most likely been receiving this treatment for years and finally had enough! My god, just imagine if he treats his wife this way, I wonder what he would do if a stray kitty came in his yard. I am sure he will pester the wife to drop charges so he can keep his job, but I hope the officials in Pasco County will realize, WE DON'T WANT HIM!
