Pasco Schools, Government Offices Closed Monday
The decision came following a 3:30 p.m. briefing on Tropical Storm Isaac.

Pasco County school children and government workers won’t have to report tomorrow morning.
The county announced a few moments ago that all government offices and public schools will be closed Monday, Aug. 27, due to Tropical Storm Isaac.
“The decision is due to the uncertain weather conditions that Tropical Storm Isaac poses early Monday and throughout the day,” a county media release said. “The closure of Pasco County Government means PCPT Transit Buses will not be in operation, County Parks are closed and County Libraries are traditionally closed on Mondays.”
New Port Richey's non-emergency city government offices will also be closed.
While most government offices and services will be suspended on Monday, curbside garbage collection will continue, the release said. Residents, however, should check with their private garbage services to be sure.
Other Pasco closings include the court system and the clerk’s office.
The county’s Emergency Operations Center is officially open as Isaac makes its way north in the Gulf of Mexico. Residents with questions or a need for information on county services, shelters or storm preparedness can contact the Resident Information Center at 727-847-8959/2411.

This is real brilliant. Talk about an over-reaction! The storm WAS NOT expected to come into the Tampa area, only up until Friday did a few non-hurricane meteorologists think it may come our way. I think our government officials need better advice. Someone like Joe Bastardi from Weatherbell.com, a real tropical expert. This is the 2nd time in the last 2 or 3 years they closed the schools for nothing. I'll give them credit though, at least this time it actually rained-last time it was sunny. They refused to close the schools last year even though the entire county was under a tornado watch overnight and there were a couple of tornados that did touch down and cause damage, yet they closethings down for an inch of rain. Amazing.
