Photos: Romney Draws Support from Bay Area
It is estimated the crowd for Gov. Mitt Romney's rally in Land O' Lakes topped 15,000 people.
Jim Cummins arrived at Land O’ Lakes High School hours before former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney took the stage at the school stadium Oct. 27.
The next president of the United States drew him here, said Cummins, a Navy veteran who served during the Vietnam War. Romney is a man with unshakable “dedication to the causes for which this great nation was founded," he said.
He cited Romney’s virtues:
“No. 1 is integrity,” said Cummins, of Lutz. “Absolute inviolate integrity. “
Cummins was one of a mass of people who came to Land O’ Lakes Saturday, forming a line that spanned from the school's parking loop all the way to just short of the school entrance at Land O’ Lakes Boulevard.
Young and old alike came to the school for Romney’s speech, given at John Benedetto Stadium. They came from all sorts of places, some hailing from at least as far as St. Petersburg.
One of those folks that flocked to Pasco from outside the area was Mike Freese of St. Petersburg. The military veteran and former employee of the division of alcoholic beverages and tobacco held hand-painted signs as he waited in line for entry to the rally.
One showed former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi wearing only a swimsuit with the communist insignia. Another billed President Barack Obama as “Barack ‘Insane’ Obama For Colonel of Libya.”
“It’s political satire, but in this case it’s true,” he said.

We're not just voting for President: we're voting for the people who will come into government with him--and today's models of Dick Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz, Paul O'Neal, and Gonzalez are waiting in the wings. Do we really want that crew--or people like them--back? If so, vote Romney.

That sign is disgusting. Imagine the outrage that would've erupted if anyone had DARED to insult Bush in a similar fashion?

But, unfortunately, it is completely in step with some of the irrationality among Romney's supporters.

Lots of people in this crowd sure look like they could use affordable health care. Too bad they won't be able to have it if their candidate wins. And, while I have gotten used to people voting against their economic interests, I am surprised at the Vietnam era vet voting for a man who supported the Vietnam war but refused to fight --instead he spent years in France. I know of too many people whose lives were very damaged whether they allowed themselves to be drafted or whether they refused to be drafted and were jailed. I will never support someone who supported the Vietnam war but refused his duty to serve. No excuse for that lack of patriotism and, yes, integrity.

Are you too "Goody-Goody" to use NAMES? No, Obamacare is NOT the answer - were so deep in debt you'll have to wait 3-days for a band-aid. By the way - Romney was on MORMON MISSION in France, and not eligible for draft, any more than college students. THAT is NOT LACK OF PATRIOTISM!
Being FEMALE, you WOULDN'T know, but there was a thing called the DRAFT. Far too many went to Nam, way far too many gave the ultimate sacrifice. What did YOU do? Cheer on "HANOI JANE"?

@Lynda - What you know about Romney would fit in a thimble... During the Vietnam war, he had a religious and college deferments... Remember, Mormon's have an obligation to do that mission work... After his deferments were over, he was eligible for the draft, and was registered... It was towards the end of the war, however, and the draft never got to his number... Your assertion that he refused to serve is abosolute BS, and you should be ashamed of yourself... If you cannot come here and, at minimum, be honest, than you should stay off the forum... You are the one who lacks integrity...

Gov. Romney had a CHOICE to serve in the military during a war he supported or use the convenient out available to Mormons (only) to do missionary work. Some Mormons actually joined and fought. He chose not to. Gov. Romney's religion does not prohibit him from killing people as do other religions. I know people whose religious beliefs meant they served jail terms because they refused the draft. They did not have the protection Mormons did. I know people who died after being drafted into a war they did not support. My point about Gov. Romney is that he supported the Vietnam war but CHOSE to do missionary work instead. Just like Dick Cheney took 5 deferments when he supported the Vietnam war. You two are looking for any excuse for your candidate. I doubt you are veterans or that either of you were alive during the Vietnam era. And Brian, I opposed the Vietnam War and have the FBI file to prove it. Thankfully history has proven those of us who marched in opposition were correct. I marched for my beliefs; if you were alive, what did you do? Whine like you are doing on these posts? My point is that like the Bush II neo-cons who never served, Gov Romney is all big talk about sending other people to war, but when he had the duty to go, he refused. Colter95, that is only one of the things I know about Gov. Romney that make it impossible for me to vote for him.
