Chicken wings are a popular pick for Super Bowl Sunday as football fans watch the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens compete for the Lombardi Trophy in New Orleans on Feb. 3. But will there be a chicken wing shortage for this Super Bowl?
Americans eat 1.23 billion chicken wings over Super Bowl weekend, but this year prices have gone up, and fewer chicken wings are available "due in large part to record high corn and feed prices" last summer, according to the National Chicken Council website.
The average cost for a pound frozen chicken wings at the grocery store last week was $2.52, compared to $1.97 per pound during the same time frame last year, according to the Huffington Post.
Restaurants plan ahead of time and buy extra wings for Super Bowl Sunday, but don't wait until right before the game if you plan on buying wings to make at home, according to the chicken council.
“But if you’re planning to cook your own wings, I wouldn’t advise being in line at the supermarket two hours before kickoff,” according to chief economist and market analyst Bill Roenigk for the chicken council.
Super Bowl Sunday is the second most popular day to eat chicken wings, with Thanksgiving on top, according to the Christian Science Monitor.
A recent survey shows 79 percent of adults eat chicken wings, with ranch dressing as the most popular dipping sauce choice, the chicken council reports.
Chicken wings are a popular year round choice, with many great places to buy wings in the New Port Richey area.
Prefer to make wings at home? The Internet has plenty of recipe options, including Buffalo Wings from the Food Network, crispy-baked chicken wings from Bon Appétit and pineapple chicken wings from Kraft Foods.

I would like to take this opportunity to advise to those people who eats chicken
first of all, learn how chicken are rise in mass production, second, learn what the industrialized chicken are fed and what are fed with, third learn the nutritional content of chickens, NONE, fourth learn what illments you can get when your diet includes chicken, fifth, learn how do you get and what type of cancer and other mayor health hassards you get by consumming chicken, sixth consult to a diettician and your doctor about the content and the dangers to your inmune system produce by the hormones, vaccines and other subtances added to fed chickens. therefore chicken is garbage food for human comsumption .BE AWARE,
Finnaly, if people likes chicken , it is not because of the chicken taste or nutrient. It is beacause of the veriety of ingridients and seasoning added to cook chicken, like salt and spices. with out it, people won't eat it, perhaps animals are the only ones that will eat it. if it is still fresh, other wise, chicken spoils rapidly in warm weather.

Personally, I'm not a lover of the wings. But I love the sauces and blue cheese, so I order chicken fingers with wing sauce on the side and blue cheese. Love baking it in the oven from scratch so I don't get all that fat. It's just an alternative.
