Should City Move immediately to Resolve Problems at Walden Pond?

New Port Richey officials say the deteriorating structures pose a risk to health and safety.

The New Port Richey City Council will decide tonight if it wants to authorize city staff to immediately remedy unsafe conditions at Walden Pond Mobile Home Park.

More than 50 mobile homes there have been marked for condemnation.

The resolution would give the city the green light to immediately raze, abate or otherwise remedy the problem trailers.

Enforcement issues have been a problem at the park repeatedly over the past few months. What do you think the city should do?

I surely feel for these people who will be out of a home..........no one wants that. However, with all the resources like Salvation Army, Red Cross, etc. that we can draw from.....they will find shelter. Get rid of Walden Pond's mess.

I say make the land owner clean it up and evict the residents properly. He already owes NPR $25,000 as stated in another article. There has to be laws on the books regarding this type of situation. Who is liable if something happens, the land owner or NPR? Or give the land owner and option, clean it up or sign the land over to NPR to take responsibility. I wouldn't do a thing until one of the two were done.
