Thai Bistro: For When You've Got to Have It
Enjoy Thai cuisine and good service.
You know how it is with Thai cuisine. When you got to have it, you got to have it. And you should get it at the Thai Bistro.
From the outside, it looks like a plain storefront. But inside, you find a beautifully decorated Thai palace. Warm wood adorns the walls and tall booths provide maximum privacy. Colorful pillows and cushions and soft lighting complete a picture of serenity and tranquility.
Even to those uninitiated to Thai cuisine, the menu is relatively easy to understand, and the pleasant, attentive and attractive servers are happy to explain anything that is unclear.
My dinner started with fried dumplings, which I didn’t see on the menu, but asked for. These are not at all like Chinese dumplings; they are light and delicate in texture and flavor. You might also want to try the Chicken Sa-Teh; the peanut sauce is excellent. Wonton soup provides a wonderful segue to your entrée.
I enjoyed the basil pork, served with carrots and snow peas in a delicately spiced chili sauce. However, the Pad Prig is also a favorite; your choice of pork, chicken or beef sautéed with bamboo shoots, peppers, onions and basil in a chili paste. Thai Bistro also provides an extensive selection of vegetarian meals as well as duck and frog legs entrées.
Unlike many Thai restaurants, the theme at the Bistro is not "The Hotter, the Better." Their dishes are moderately seasoned to provide the diner with a wonderful blend of herbs and spices, without overpowering the palate.
The food is surpassed only by the service. Dressed in traditional silk skirts with lacy blouses reminiscent of Victorian days, the servers glide quietly about their duties. Even though the dining room may be crowded, servers maintain a calm and soothing demeanor.
Top off your dinner with the Banana Bistro, a house specialty of banana coins served with homemade coconut ice cream. It will make your meal even more
Thai Bistro does not have a full bar, but they do offer a selection of beer and wines.
