Visions for Vacancies: What Would You Welcome On Main Street?

What do you want to see go here?

Vacant spaces are a problem for a community. It's especially bad if they're right in the main throughway of your city.

Patch wants to know what you think the solution can be.

Today, we’re looking at 5709 Main St. right in downtown New Port Richey. The single-story, 2,000-square-foot property is classified as commercial and owned by Charles P. Casson.

The just value of the property is $50,702, according to Pasco County Property records. The parcel has a classification that allows for office use.

What do you think should go in this space? Let us know in the comments section.

Possibly a company that specializes in finding employment for the senior community.

What we desperately need are business that can be anchor stores, that will bring in business for existing store. It would of been great if Star Bucks would have put in a store downtown. I would like to see some bigger companies that profit from our community, invest in our main street city.

How about a Books-a-Million, an Old Navy, or a Pet Mart?

Classification for office space? That needs to be fixed right away. There are many possibilities if they change the zoning. How about a bakery next door to a dance studio, next to a coffee house, next to a deli? That would cover kids and the parents waiting for them.

I am in favor of a specialty shop. Bakery, Ice Cream, Bagel, Bicycle Shop, Outdoor Sporting Goods, Home Decor Botique. Any idea what the approximate monthly rent would be?

It was a Home Decor store at one time, not sure how that worked for them. Laura you have the right idea, creating business that will help bring in customers to Downtown. Zoning is a good question, along with rent costs. That is a concern that I have heard in the past, not being able to find out the rent costs.
