This week, I wanted to call your attention to a couple of special benefit concerts.

The first one is happening Saturday afternoon at the new Bourbon Street. It's called the "Wings of Hope" concert. All proceeds will be going to the American Cancer Society. The other one is happening Sunday afternoon at Jilly's Lounge. It's called "Rage Against the Dark." While also a cancer benefit, this one is set up to help out Angie Mercier and her family, who have been dealing with a cancer battle and the ever-growing medical bills that go along with it.

The local music community has a great track record of helping out good causes such as these. Speaking from personal experience, I think it's because musicians understand very well what it means to be poor and/or broke, and we know how scary it can be to fall on even harder times. If you're able, please be sure to attend one or both of these benefits and help out in any way you can.
