Call it cautious optimism, but if this first month is any indicator, 2012 could shape up to be a much better year for live music in the West Pasco area than 2011.

Why? For starters, I'm starting to see a lot more online advertising than I did last year. People are now regularly posting their calendars for everyone to see, be it on their websites or on Facebook. This means I haven't had to call nearly as many places to find out who's playing. Any of the bars that haven't started advertising online now have much more well-informed bartenders whenever I call and ask for their info. Several more bands have put themselves on Facebook or Reverbnation in order to better connect with their fans.

In addition to that, I'm starting to pick up on a greater sense of cameraderie within the music community. I don't know if this has anything to do with me and this blog, or if it has more to do with the fact that they recognize how much of a struggle it is to keep going in this economy and realize that they're stronger when united than divided. Either way, it's very encouraging to see everyone start to support everyone else, and I really hope to see this trend continue.

Music fans, keep spreading the word about this blog! The more people know about it and other comprehensive live music schedule sites like GoTonight.com, the better informed they can be about when and where all their favorite bands are playing, and the better informed bars and bands will be about their options for free advertising.
