The nine-day Chasco Fiesta offers a variety of family fun and entertainment -- including nightly concerts, a traditional Native American festival, a boat parade, and a street parade -- along the banks of the Pithlachascotee River.
Today's parade is said to be the oldest boat parade in Florida. It starts in Millers Bayou along the Pithlachascotee River and finishes at Sims Park.
Boaters will compete for a $2,500 prize and must follow the theme Great Inventions. Boaters must register by March 23.

More About Sims Park and Orange Lake
If you're in the mood for a stroll along the Pithlachascotee River or want to throw a frisbee in the sun, Sims Park and Orange Lake are worth a visit. Located downtown, near the U.S. 19 entrance to New Port Richey, Sims Park is community hub where you can find a holiday concert, play with a radio control helicopter or just sit on the grass or a bench. It also contains the Sims Park Boat Dock, a band shell and a playground.
