Five things New Port Richey residents should know for today, Saturday, July 23.
1. Weather: Per AccuWeather.com, temperatures will be in the mid-80s as we wake up and will climb to 93 by the early-afternoon when the mid-afternoon thunderstorms arrive. The rains will fade away by late afternoon and may return in the early evening with temperatures in the low 80s.
2. Civil War: A Civil War battlefield exhibit will open at noon today at the Nuance Galleries in Tampa. Historians will discuss specifically the both the First and Second Battle of Bull Run. The exhibit is free.
3. Tom Green live: The comedian and former MTV appears live at the Tampa Improv . Shows at 7:30 and 10 p.m. Tickets start at $22.

4. Free karate: The will host free karate classes from 6-9 p.m. today for both adult and youngsters.
5. This date in history: During the filming of the movie "Twilight Zone," actor Vic Morrow and two child actors, Renee Shinn Chen and Myca Dinh Le, were killed in an accident involving a helicopter.
