Get Out the Sunblock: New Port Richey's Weather is Heating Up

Forecasters say the workweek will start out drier than normal. The low rain chances, however, come with a price. It's going to get hot out there!

Are you ready for a break from all the rain that poured on the New Port Richey area last week, making for a soggy Fourth of July?

Andrew McKaughan, a forecaster at the National Weather Service’s Ruskin office, says we’re going to get it, but it comes at a price. With rain chances in the 20-to-30-percent range, Monday and Tuesday could get pretty hot. McKaughan says to expect highs in the 90s in most parts of the Tampa Bay area. Some inland areas could see those highs climb to the mid-90s.

While July 8-9 should be “drier than normal,” that fact translates to the higher anticipated temperatures McKaughan explained, because “we’re not going to get that afternoon cloud cover.”
