Haunted Houses, Fall Fun Nearby

Preparing for a scare or just something to do in the colder weather? Check out our list of fun things to do. We'll be updating it as we find more.

Halloween is approaching, and the ghosts and zombies are preparing to emerge from their graves.

We’ve got a list of ways you can give yourself a fright. There are also ways to just enjoy fall with the family.

Visit a haunted house at The Angelus, a group home and day center for people with cerebral palsy. The main house has 20 rooms, some of which are 3D. Also available are a haunted trail, pirate ship, hayride and cemeteries.

The haunted Angelus opened first on Sept. 28. It benefits The Angelus House.

"It is a very, very good haunt," said Don Surenkamp, who is directing the house.

Dates: Oct. 19-21, 26-31

Hours: Fridays and Saturdays, 6:30 p.m.-midnight

Sundays and weekdays that it is open:6:30 p.m-10 p.m.

Tickets range from $12-$25, depending on how many attractions you wish to visit in one night. Visit the houses' ticketing page online for more information.

  • Horror at The Ridge 9349 Calle Alta, New Port Richey.

The Gmelin family is readying to unleash a cavalcade of terrors at their home in the Hunter's Ridge subdivision.

Costs: Entry to the haunted mauoleum costs $2, but proceeds go to River Ridge High School's orchestral and marching bands.

Dates: Opens Oct. 19. Continues Oct. 20-21 and then Oct. 26-28 and Oct. 31. It may also open the Monday and Tuesday before Halloween, but that depends on turnout.

Hours: 7:30-11 p.m.

  • Haunted Yard Through Oct. 31. (3139 Seven Springs Blvd, justsouth of Lassen Ave)

It looks like Glen McClure's outdoing himself this year. The Mclure family’s yard has turned into haunted grounds you can see for free, and there's a funeral carriage added this year.  Check out the display and prepare fotr a fright if you visit sime nights.

  • Haunted Fire House, East Lake Fire Rescue Station 57, 3375 Tarpon Lake Blvd. 

A more than 4,000-square-foot attraction. Prepare for scares from live actors, creatures and special effects.

Cost: $5 donation requested.

Dates: Oct. 19-20, Oct. 26-27

Times: 7-10 p.m.

  • Fall Corn Maze (Sweetfields Farm 17250 Benes Roush Road, Masaryktown)

Find your way through a corn maze, take a hayride and enjoy fall activities.

Tickets

12 and older: $8.50

3 years-11 years: $4.50

2 years and under: Free

Trunk or treating in downtown New Port Richey and produced by the New Port Richey Recreation and Aquatic Center and the Cultural Affairs Advisory Committee.

Time: 6-8 p.m.

A Halloween party and pot luck  at S&J's Pub. Adults dressed in costume get a "Buy-a-drink, get-a-drink-free."

Cost: Entry is free

Bring your swimsuits, floaties, towels, possibly blankets, chairs (if you want, some are provided) 

Our Monthly Splash Cinema goes spooky this October for Halloween! Family friendly movie will be played outside by the pool and light refreshments will be served, feel free to bring your own refreshments if you please!"
