Find Haunts and Fall Fun Nearby (Or Within Driving Distance)

As the residents of Halloween Town, from the movie “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” would say: “Ghosts and ghouls are everywhere. Life’s no fun without a good scare.”

Halloween is approaching, and we’ve got a list of ways you can give yourself a fright. Or just enjoy the cooler weather with the family at a hayride or festival.

• The Haunted Angelus House Sept. 31-Oct. 31 (The Angelus, 12413 Hudson Ave.)

Visit 21 rooms of horror at the hanted house at The Angelus, a group home and day center for people with disabilities. In addition to the main house, there is a haunted trail, pirates ship, hayride balloon trail and cemetery.

Opening Hours: 

Haunted House:  6:30 p.m.   

Haunted Hayride: 7:30 p.m.

Cemetery: 6:30 p.m.

Balloon Trail: 6:30 p.m.

Haunted Trail: 6:30 p.m.

40’ Pirate Ship and Pg-13 Haunt: 8 p.m.

Tickets

Haunted House, hayride, pirate ship: $9 each attraction. Haunted trail included in each.

Three-haunt ticket: $16.

Unlimited one-night ticket: $25

Family Pass: $60, includes all attractions.

• 6th annual Halloween in the Woods.  Oct. 28-29, 6 p.m.-10 p.m (Woods at the end of Salt Springs Rd in Port Richey, just south and behind Gulf View Square Mall)

Presented by the Salt Springs Alliance, the citizen support organization for Werner Boyce Salt Springs State Park.

Enjoy a haunted trail, kiddie trail, hayride, games and pirate ship.

Tickets

$3, for most. People under 36 inches tall have fun for free. Sales close at 9:30 p.m.

• Haunted Yard Through Oct. 31. (3139 Seven Springs Blvd, just past Lassen Drive, just south of New Port Richey)

The Mclure family’s yard has turned into haunted grounds you can see for free. And they’re still putting on the finishing touches. Visit nights through Halloween. Glen McClure is still known to hide in costume among the ghouls, many of whiich are his creation, and scare passersby.  Pass by on Halloween, and McClure and company will be ready to give out the frights and candy.

• (Oct. 27-31) Opens at 7 p.m. Houston Ave & Us Highway 19, Hudson

A 10,000 square-foot scarefest inhabited by ghouls, ghosts, zombies and other creatures in a menagerie of creeps.

• Halloween Haunted Walk Oct. 28-31 (4284 Weldon Ave in Spring Hill) Opens at 5 p.m.

Spring Hill couple Jean Neff Boriello and Danielle Boriello welcome visitors to their neighborhood and terror.

• Fall Corn Maze Oct. 8-early Nov. (Sweetfields Farm 17250 Benes Roush Rd., Masaryktown)

Find your way through a corn maze, take a hayride, enjoy fall activities.

Tickets

12 and older: $8.50

3 years-11 years: $4.50

2 years and under: Free

• Fall Festival 2011 Through Sunday. 5-11 p.m. Friday, Noon- 11 p.m. Sat.-Sunday ( 5340 High Street, New Port Richey)

Organized by the West Pasco Sertoma Club and Knights of Columbus Council 11680. Admisson is free, but tickets for rides at the carnival cost $1 each. Ticket package available.Costs for drinks and food.
