Fitzerald's or Estella's both great food and in New Port Richey

These kinds of questions are always hard for me to answer because if you are a foodie, the New Port Richey area is not for you. Catches should run away with the prize considering their facilities, the location, and their resources. However, their service is notoriously bad and their food is a step down from Red Lobster in many cases. What a shame. With that being said, I will give the nod to Zen Forrest. They have great food because they have a chef who takes pride in his menu and the ingredients he uses. Unfortunately they also have a terrible location so it is not a place everyone around here is aware of.

For Pizza and Italian sandwiches and the baked ziti, it has to be Slice of Life Pizza on Little Rd. behind McDonalds and accross from Dairy Queen. After having the best fish and chips in the world in Dublin Ireland, the best fish and chips around-from here to Clearwater and up to Spring Hill-HANDS DOWN is Trinity Seafood. $20 buys fish and chips and coleslaw for four people. But it is the freshness and the batter that really makes it the BEST. I agree also about Fitzgeralds.Great Irish food and a very nice spiced apple cider (can be spiked) but no draft specials???no dregs hangingaround either. I keep my business between these three LOCAL NPR restaurants and don't believe you have to leave NPR for a good meal. Keep it local OH Great hamburgers and good dinners at Boulevard Beef and Ale! If we don't give local business our business, they may go out of business. With the price of gas, we may be walking to eat out. I haven't been to all restaurants (and I'm sure no one else has) so please share your best so potential customers will keep the business in NPR.

The Backroom has a good selection of food... I'll stop in just to have their awesome homemade coleslaw... The wings... Are to die for! Try the Parmesan cheese grilled wings... And their spiced apple pie shot is good too.. I'll have to try Fitgeralds... Pass it several times a day and was curious about it myself.

Leaning Tower of Pizza is awesome and such a wonderful staff, and Grill 19 - you just cannot beat the happy hour and after 8 specials. Oh, and Kazu Sushi and Christo's are great options too...there are lots of good little gems around if you look!

I personally prefer Asian Buffets.
Michelle Fretz January 30, 2013 at 04:22 PM
@Billy.... I loved that place too... Except when it rained.. No dry place... Try Whisky River on he other side of the bridge.... If ya ever see the big shark missing, I know nothin... Lol....@Michael.... Buffets are bad... Never know who's snot nosed kid was grabbing their food... Germ city... And yes, I wipe my grocery cart down with sanitizer.. Lol still gotta try your carrot cake yogurt...
michael mirra January 30, 2013 at 04:30 PM
@Michelle. I know what you mean about the germs at a buffett though. I have viewed people not was their hands in the restroom & return to the buffett line & handle the scoop utencils. I stopped getting more food at that point. LOL. I thought of you last week as I bought Publix Yougart. As I put some Carrot Cake yogarts in my cart I wondered if you had tried it & if you liked it, or not. Not everyone has the same taste. You once mentioned that you & your husband think a revolution might be brewing in America. I realize that is off topic here, but you might be interested in this. http://lutz.patch.com/blog_posts/is-a-civil-war-in-america-beginning

Michael... I will check out the link. Question for ya, what do you think of WAWA? Are you familiar with the chain? Cause you are in for an awesome experiience:) my northern store has made it south finally! It's like a mini publix:)
michael mirra January 30, 2013 at 06:14 PM
@Michelle, I never heard of WAWA except at work I work for a major AMEX company in customer service & have seen the charges at WAWA on many people's accounts. When I saw that they are opening in at least two locations locally, that I have noticed, I watched with interest. I went to their website & it looks interesting. I see that they take a very long time to construct their locations. I have been watching & waiting for them to open so I can check them out. Have any of them opened yet locally that you know of?
Michelle Fretz January 30, 2013 at 08:20 PM
Michael... None in our town yet... But soon:) I have been watching all three, but believe the ridge and 19 will be the first to open.. 2nd week in February was the open date. It is a very clean, variety of everything under the sun store... And all food and veggies are fresh.. Not sure about the gas prices, but heck, I'm interested in their Herrs and Utz brand snacks and fresh Tastycakes...

LOVE Leaning Tower!
Christy J January 30, 2013 at 09:51 PM
Whiskey River has great food, though their prices are a bit high. Leaning Tower is excellent. I've only eaten at Fitzgerald's once, but it was very good. Jimmy's has great breakfast. Estela's is fantastic food, but the service is consistently horrible. I really hope they fix that, because I may never get my husband to go there again, and it's the best Mexican food around.

I love, love love Niko's...What more can I say! Good Food, Good staff, reasonable prices and 2-4-1's...Life is good at Niko's..Try the prime rib, or for that matter, anything, I mean anything on the menu and you will not be sorry. I have never been disappointed when I take out of town visitors there....

The Breakfast Station in New Port Richey. Great food, a good assortment of options to choose from. The staff is friendly and responsive

I really like the Grand Plaza Cafe on Little Rd.
jwk February 01, 2013 at 08:25 PM
Thought of another, The Breakfast Club on 19 & Regency,,,,,Great breakfast and lunch menu, good service, reasonable prices.
michael mirra February 02, 2013 at 01:45 AM
The Grand Plaza Cafe has great American food too. The atmosphere is wonderful for Family get togethers, dinner dates, & catching a quick bite to eat on the run. I'm so glad I found this place. The Italian food is like an Italian restaurant in New York. Very authentic.
pismire June 17, 2013 at 11:58 PM
There are actually ZERO good Italian eateries in the New Port Richey area, of central Florida for that matter. Likewise, there are ZERO good Chicago style pizza, hotdog, or Italian beef eateries either. There have been a few that have come close, but most fall way short. Paul's near the tracks on McMullen booth has a damn good thin crust pizza with REAL sausage with fennel seeds. Their deep dish (stuffed) is also good. And their hotdogs are great. Unfortunately their beef is not. And to anyone thinking of starting a Chicago style place- Call the folks at Carm's Beef in Chicago for pointers. And remember a Chicago COMBO is not a cold sandwich, its half hot Italian beef and half Italian sausage... This is the type of place you'd think would do extremely well around here...
pismire June 18, 2013 at 12:00 AM
My bad I got carried away and didn't answer the original topic... Bonefish @ trinity is good, probably best place around here...Carmelitas is a nice change as well. And if you're looking for wings/gyros NOBODY beats Great Subs n More on 19.
