We're almost through the short work week. Make the most of it with our suggestions.

1.     Carry your umbrella with you today. The National Weather Service forecasts a 60 percent chance of rain in the morning and a chance of thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy with a high near 89.

2.     The debate on whether New Port Richey should charge event planners for the cost of their to the city continues. Want to participate?  The Special Events Advisory Committee is meeting with City Manager John Schneiger to discuss the matter at 2 p.m. today at the New Port Richey Public Library.

3.     Kids can bring their favorite teddy bear to stuffed animal story time at the New Port Richey Public Library today at 11 a.m.

4.     Free health screenings are being held today at the Winn-Dixie Pharmacy today from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Winn-Dixie at 12120 Moon Lake Rd.
