Five Things You Should Know Today, June 29

With a change in the county burn ban and ample opportunities to feel the music, we've got five ways for you to celebrate today.

2.     Want to keep abreast of the debate on whether New Port Richey should charge event planners should be charged the full cost of their festivities to the city? The Special Events Advisory Committee is meeting with City Manager John Schneiger to start discussions on the matter Thursday at the New Port Richey Public Library. Then, further discussion will be taken up at a City Council meeting July 5.  

3.     The Beacon Square Civic Association is holding its weekly “Line Dancing with Debbie” session today from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. at 3741 Bradford Dr, Holiday. The cost is $3.

4.     Are you a little bit country? Are you a little bit Rock ’n’ Roll? Do you have those knee-shakin’, earthquakin’ blues?  Sing or play to your hearts' content at Open Jam Session night at , 6229 Grand Blvd, New Port Richey. The weekly event runs from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. and is free.

5.      Concerned your kids wouldn’t be able to play with sparklers this Independence Day because of Pasco County’s burn ban? No worries. County commissioners exempted them from the ban yesterday. Read more about the exemption here.
