Five Things You Should Know Today, June 30

The week is nearing its end. Make the most of it with our suggestions of what to know today.

1.     We’re likely to see showers and thunderstorms after 11 a.m. today, according to the National Weather Service. It will be a mostly cloudy day with temperatures reaching a high near 85.

2.     Want to keep abreast of the debate on whether New Port Richey should charge event planners should be charged the full cost of their festivities to the city? The Special Events Advisory Committee is meeting with City Manager John Schneiger to start discussions on the matter today at the New Port Richey Public Library. Then, further discussion will be taken up at a City Council meeting July 5.

3.     Looking for somewhere to watch large-scale commercial fireworks light up the sky over Pasco County for the Forth of July? Make a trip to the county fairgrounds in Dade City for Sparklebration. Learn more about the county’s celebration.
