Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Ruskin say we’re in for a 40 percent chance of rain during the daytime hours today, Oct. 17. Those chances increase to 60 percent going into the evening hours and 70 percent on Tuesday.

“(It will be) rainy in the beginning of the week,” said Todd Barron, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service. Pasco’s chances for rain, he added, will stay fairly high through Tuesday at least.

Rain chances are so high for Pasco in the beginning part of the week because of an area of disturbed weather over the Caribbean, Barron said.

While West Pasco residents should be prepared for lots of rain on the front end of the week, Barron said there is a payoff coming. A cold front is anticipated to move into the area on Thursday and Friday, bringing drier conditions and lower temperatures. Highs those days are expected to stay in the low to mid-70s, he said.

As the weekend makes its approach, Barron said temperatures will climb again, but not by much.

“By the weekend, they should jump into the low 80s.”
