Juggling your responsibilities, and entertaining the kids is no easy task. New Port Richey Patch is coming to the rescue, with the top 5 family-friendly activities in the area.


  • Where/When: , 6630 Van Buren St. Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
  • Why Go: Local kids are invited to the New Port Richey Recreation Center, for an afternoon of fun and games with officers of the New Port Richey Police Department. This free event allows students to interact with positive community role models. Children will enjoy a variety of activities including, sports, discussions and educational programs.

  • Where/When:  , 9701 Little Rd. Thursday at 6 p.m.
  • Why Go: Kids grades kindergarten to 5 are invited to the Regency Park Library after school for a fun evening with legos. Youngsters are encouraged to use their imagination to build anything from skyscrapers to cars, and any other object they can come up with. 
  • Pricing: Free!


  • Where/When: , Bank St & Grand Blvd. Friday at 6:30 p.m.
  • Why Go: Bring the family to Sims Park for a free screening of the documentary, "White Lion," directed by Michael Swan. Cozy up under a blanket on the park's lawn and enjoy the movie with your kids. There will be food and drinks available for purchase on site.

Meet Author Madeline Wilks

  • Where/When: Tarpon Springs Public Library, 138 East Lemon Street. Saturday at 2 p.m.
  • Why Go: Madeline Wilks is the perfect example of how extraordinary kids can be. The seventh grader turned published author will read and discuss her children's book "Yellow Dot. Red Dot." with the public. Children will participate in an educational crafts program following the reading in honor of International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. 
  • Pricing: Free!

  • Where/When: , 5340 High St. Sunday at 3 p.m.
  • Why Go: Families are invited to the church for a traditional Irish dinner complete with corned beef and cabbage in celebration of St. Patrick's Day. Music will be provided by Kevin McMahon.
  • Pricing: Adults $10, $5 for children ages 6-10 and free for children 5 and under.
