Seventh Annual Jacaranda Poetry Festival

The Pasco Arts Council celebrates National Poetry Month in April with its Seventh Annual Jacaranda Poetry Festival, offering opportunities for poets in a public forum.  All poets are invited to enter the Jacaranda Poetry Contest.


Guidelines are as follows:



  • Poems must be original and not previously published.

  • Entry fee is $3 per poem with no limit on the number of poems entered.

  • Send 3 copies of each poem; one with name, address, phone number and email address, and the other 2 without ANY identification (for use by the judges.)


Entries may be mailed (postmarked by April 3, 2013) or hand delivered to: Pasco Arts Council, 5744 Moog Rd., Holiday, FL  34690-2354, Attention: Jacaranda Poetry.

All entries are reviewed by a panel of professional judges led by published author Alicyn Lopez; and awards (including cash prizes) will be announced at the Jacaranda Poetry Reading on Saturday, April 20 at 1PM at Pasco Arts Council’s art center located at 5744 Moog Road, Holiday (adjacent to the Centennial Park Library).  Winners of the Jacaranda Poetry Contest will be announced then and given the opportunity to read their poetry.  In addition, there will be open readings by other poets in attendance. The public is invited to this free poetry event. Light refreshments will be served.


The Pasco Arts Council is a nonprofit organization established in 1979 by the Pasco Board of County Commissioners.   It serves all of Pasco County and is located at 5744 Moog Road in Holiday.  Public hours are Tuesday through Thursday, 9AM to 4PM, and Friday and Saturday, 9AM to 1PM (closed Sundays and Mondays).  For more information phone
