Tax Collector Mike Fasano Announces “The Volunteer Way” Will be Featured Charity for February

Tax Collector Mike Fasano announces that beginning on February 1st, and for the entire month of February, all four Pasco County Tax Collector offices will be drop-off points for non-perishable food and personal care items such as diapers, toiletries, etc.  All goods collected during the month of February will be donated directly to The Volunteer Way, one of Pasco County’s premier food banks.  Donations will be accepted during regular business hours: Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM; Tuesday and Thursday from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM.  The Gulf Harbors, Land O’ Lakes and Dade City offices are also open on Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

“The Volunteer Way is an example of the ideal community charity,” Tax Collector Mike Fasano states.  “Over 99% of all donations made to the organization are returned to the community through food, goods and services.  The Volunteer Way carries no debt as it relies solely on donations and grants to pay for its day-to-day operations.  The Volunteer Way, and its founding organization, has served countless individuals in our community for almost 25 years.  The Pasco County Tax Collectors Office is proud to team up with The Volunteer Way to shine a spotlight on its need for food and other items to help those most in need.”

The Volunteer Way provides food and personal care products to an average of 20,000 families every month.  In addition to operating its own distribution center in Pasco County, The Volunteer Way delivers, free of charge, millions of pounds of food to other food pantries, soup kitchens, residential programs, senior communities and homeless shelters throughout Pasco and surrounding counties.   Additionally, homebound seniors in Pasco County can participate in the Brown Bag Program which delivers an average of 70 pounds of food per month to each senior in the program, including food for their pet if they have one.  The Volunteer Way also runs a soup kitchen in the Moon Lake area, providing a hot meal for those who may not otherwise have one.
