Martin Luther King's Birthday isn't a second class holiday

Martin Luther King was a great American & a great human being & should be honored by all Americans regardless of their racial background

Monday the 21st of January is Martin Luther King's birthday. It is a shame that it is still mostly a black holiday. It is a national holiday, but work places will give the day off, usually be special request submitted in advance, for no pay. It is understood that Black people might want the day off & are given that option. I am white & somehow feel that if I ask for that day off, I would be viewed as a slacker who just wants to capitalize on a chance to grab a day off. That is the mindset of White dominated America. Why is Martin's birthday a second class holiday? He was a great American. His Birthday is not a Black Holiday. It is an American Holiday.

That was his quest,

to follow that star,

no matter how hopeless, no matter how far,

to be willing to give, when there's no more to give,

to be willing to die, so that honor & justice may live.

And the world will be better for this.

That one man, scorned & cover with scars,

still strove with his last ounce of courage,

to reach the unreachable stars.
