1 Arrested in Drug Deal Gone Bad

A Holiday man was accused of being in the same vehicle a crime was committed in and not stopping the act or notifying the police.

A Holiday man was arrested Wednesday in connection to an armed robbery that occured last month.

The incident took place Nov. 8 when the victim met up with three people who were parked in a vehicle at 4448 Grand Blvd. to buy marijuana from them, according to Pasco County Sheriff's deputies.

With the victim in the vehicle, one of the car's occupants took out a knife, slashed the victim on the forehead, took $400 in cash from him and kicked him out of the vehicle, according to the arrest report.

According to deputies, Roderick Antonio Benjamin of Holiday was in the vehicle when the knife was pulled and used. Benjamin confessed to witnessing the crime, according to the report.

Deputies said he did not attempt to stop the offense or notify police.

Benjamin, 47, was arrested Wednesday and charged with armed robbery and aggravated battery.

He is being held on a $60,000 bond.

Deputies are still investigating and have yet to identify the man who pulled the knife and the man who drove the vehicle.
