Countywide Drug Sweep Nets 35

The sweep was a result of six months of undercover work.

A six-month, multiagency undercover operation paid off this week when more than 30 people in Pasco County were arrested on drug-related charges.

The arrests came as a result of a Street Narcotics Apprehension Program Task Force investigation. The task force includes the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office and the New Port Richey Police Department, among others.

Street-level drug dealers and users were arrested Tuesday and Wednesday from all over the county with the New Port Richey Police Department serving as the command post for the operation, a Pasco County Sheriff’s Office media release said.

"We wouldn't be able to do operations like this one without the outstanding efforts of our Vice and Narcotics Unit," said Pasco Sheriff Chris Nocco. "Working together with other agencies like the New Port Richey Police Department we can increase our resources to keep drugs out of our neighborhoods."

The need to crackdown on drug use and sale is supported by arrest statistics, officials said.

"We have seen about sixty to seventy percent of our cases as a result of the prescription drug problem in Pasco County," said Pasco vice and narcotics Lt. Charles Balderstone. "About 70 percent of the cases in which we made arrests in this roundup had something to do with illegal use of prescription drugs."

This round of arrests won’t be the last from the investigation, officials said. More arrests are expected soon.

We have a big problem here in Pasco with the drug epidemic. I feel we need to work together as a community to end this problem. I'm happy to say several of those arrested were from my neighborhood, and I commend the sheriff and NPR police for this. Often we get frustrated when we know we have dealers in our neighborhoods and feel like nothing is being done about it. The narcotics division works hard to get these people off the streets, it takes months to investigate and then they go to court and their bond is often reduced in half, and they are back out doing the same thing again. Sheriff Nocco has a zero tolerance for this and hopefully this message will get out. If you suspect drug activity in your neighborhood, please get involved and call it in to the anonymous line at 1-800-741-3673 where you can leave a message and it does not go overlooked. Thank you Alex Tiegen for displaying the names of those arrested so the public may see, and for reporting this article.

Those pills man...... My sister was in this video, its heart breaking. She was the sweetest an i looked up to her for a while when i was younger..... Then she let these stupid things ruin her life. Its crazy how a pill can ruin everything you worked for. My sister had it made before she got involved with drugs. Straight A's , living on her own, a nice bf, a car & a job, she was on the right track but pills were more important...... It sucks watching someone pretty much kill themselves just so they dont have to deal with reality or they like the feeling. I still look up to her in my own way of what not to do..... it sucks, id do anything to have my 'old' sister back. But id rather have her in jail where i know she is safe & not doing stupid stuff then having to worry about getting a call that shes dead somewhere (as harsh as that sounds, its the truth)

Back in 2008 My Spine was Crushed, & both the Front & Back required intense surgery to the point that my 'Guts' had to be removed in order to rebuild it & apply steel cages, etc before the 12 hours were performed on my back from L1 to L5 with more steel rods, clamps etc. What I am getting at is, I never took any medication outside of an Ibuprofren until I was prescribed Oxycodone, Morphine, & Soma every 6 hours...now 4 1/2 years later Those that need it are being critized and are having a hard time getting a prescription filled because 'trash like these folks, are ruining it for those of us that do need it just to have any quality of life. My Son is one of the people involved in this bust. Robert James Murphy. He was suspended from the High School in Live Oak Florida for giving a female student one of the ridlin pills he was prescribed to take. The last time we chatted was when he dropped by to try to borrow some money in 1999 & this was after he broke into my home & stole the Christmas presents in 1996, as his Mother Elaina Murphy drove him to my home & watched him do it. During the 3 year time span he had a few kids & named them after his mothers past 5, 6 or 7 husbands or Boyfriends. Thank You Pasco County Law Inforcement & the N.P.Richey Police for taking out the Trash. As harsh as it is to know it is your own Son and Ex-Wife's up-bringing of him that helped cause all this, I'm Happy it's done!
