Dead Dogs Found in Woman's Filthy House

Michell Schratwieser was arrested and charged with cruelty to animals.

When a Pasco county Sheriff’s deputy arrived at the home of Michell Schratwieser July 25, he smelled decay, according to an arrest report.

He entered the home at 7709 Atherton Ave. in the Elfers area and discovered two dead dogs and one live dog that was weak and “could not see due to mucous in its eyes,” according to the report.

It was shaking and undernourished and appeared to have eaten one of the dead dogs, according to the report.

The home was full of feces, urine and fur. The deputy couldn’t find food or water for the animals.

The deputy found Schratwieser, 48, at Best of Philly Cheesesteaks, where she works as a cook. She told him about one of the dogs, and she had “freaked out” according to the report. She left the home and hadn’t been back for several weeks, the report says.

Schratwieser was arrested and charged with three counts of cruelty to animals.  She remained in the Land O’ Lakes jail July 26 in lieu of $1,500 bail.
