Deputies Accepting Tips in Starkey Park Area Auto Burglaries

Pasco sheriff's deputies are reminding folks not to leave their valuables unattended in plain sight in their vehicles.

Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies have received reports of auto burglaries in the Starkey Park area over recent months and are reminding residents to not leave their belongings unattended in their cars.

According to a post by the sheriff’s office on its Facebook page, there have been multiple auto burglaries in the Starkey Park area over the past five months that appear similar in nature.

Sheriff's office spokesman Doug Tobin did not have information on the number of burglaries, but said they appeared to be isolated incidents.

Subjects got into vehicles by smashing windows, according to the sheriff’s office. It looks like purses and wallets are the items being targeted in the burglaries.

“Please remain vigilant when leaving your vehicle for extended periods of time and be sure that all you personal belongings are left out of plain view,” the sheriff’s office warned on Facebook.
