Cody Ryan Sapien swung at victim with golf club, but missed, police say
A New Port Richey man was arrested Sunday and accused of swinging a golf club at a man, but missing, while committing a burglary.
Cody Ryan Sapien, 22, entered the garage of a home in the 5000 block of James Street in New Port Richey on Sunday, March 20, and grabbed a golf club, according to a media alert from the .
Sapien, of 5431 Charles Street in New Port Richey, went to the front door of the home and began smashing its glass, yelling "I'm stealing your car."

The “father of the residence,” according to the alert, yelled for his family to get his gun.
Sapien swung the club at the man and missed. Sapien was running away when a New Port Richey police officer, responding to a call made at around 4:20 p.m., arrived and saw him.

The officer ordered Sapien to the ground, and he complied. As the officer attempted to handcuff him, Sapien began raising himself off the ground and trying to throw the officer off him. The victim helped restrain Sapien until backup arrived.
Sapien was taken into custody without further resistance.
"I don't have any money. I was trying to steal the car," he told officers, according to the alert.
Sapien has been charged with armed burglary, aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony and resisting arrest with violence.
