Man Arrested for Striking Mother in Head with Glass Eggnog Bottle

He also used a stun gun on her several times, according to a sheriff's report.

Ramey Eugene Newkirk, 45, of Holiday was arrested and charged with aggravated battery on a person 65 years or older on Nov. 30 after striking his mother in the head with a glass eggnog bottle, according to a Pasco County complaint affadavit.

The woman had a large laceration on the top of her head and several other cuts on her forehead, according to the report.

The woman told deputies that Newkirk also "struck her with a 'stun gun' several times," the report stated.

The incident happened on Nov. 19, according to the report.

The woman told deputies she did not report the incident when it happened because Newkirk "told her he would kill her if she told anyone what happened," the report stated.

An anonymous acquantance of the woman reported the incident to the sheriff's office. The woman's face had visible bruises when deputies arrived at the home to investigate the call, according to an incident report.

Newkirk told deputies that his mother had been robbed on the front porch of their home about a week before, according to the incident report.

Newkirk was arrested and charged with aggravated battery on a person 65 years or older and tampering with a witness, as well as grand theft, stemming from an unrelated case.

Newkirk is being held in the Land O' Lakes jail on $5,000 bond.
