Man Attacked With Knife, Barbeque Grate

Anthony Ford tried to stab a man and then attacked him with a number of items.

Anthony Ford, 42, was a guest in the home of a New Port Richey man living on Montana Ave. Aug. 6 when he accused his host of stealing $40, according to New Port Richey Police.

Ford then picked up a large knife and tried to stab the man, according to an arrest report.

The host managed to disarm Ford. So Ford went at the host with a wooden dowel and struck him in the head repeatedly.

Ford chased after the man and caught up with him near the garage.

There, Ford picked up a barbecue grate and hit the man in the head with it several times. Then he hit the man in the upper body, head and arms with a “trash pick-up tool,” the report said.

When police questioned Ford, he said he was at the man’s house when he asked to use the bathroom. He said he had $60 in cash but when he left the bathroom, he only had $20.  He said his host attacked him with a stick and hit him, but police could not find any signs of injury.

Ford was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault. He remained in the Land O’ Lakes jail Aug. 8 in lieu of $15,000 bail.
