Man Shoots Robber after 911 Call Goes to Voicemail
A home invasion out of Pasco County is garnering lots of attention as people wonder just how an emergency call could be rerouted to a recording.
The story of a Pasco County man who shot one of four home invaders after his call to 911 was rerouted to voicemail is raising a lot of questions.
The incident occurred June 11 on Gwain Road in Port Richey. According to MyFoxTampaBay, a man, his wife and stepmother were at home when four armed men broke in demanding money and prescription drugs. They roughed up the family and left, giving the man enough time to call 911. As a dispatcher attempted to transfer the call, it went to voicemail.
At that point, the bad guys returned, and the man shot one of the robbers.

Deputies were dispatched to the home within minutes of the original call, and say the transfer didn’t hamper their response time. Even so, Fox reports that the incident is being looked into to prevent a recurrence in the future.

A YouTube recording of one of the man’s calls to 911 has logged more than 130,000 views.
The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office has also issued a statement on its official Facebook page:
“We would like to remind our citizens that the Pasco Sheriff's Office does not control the emergency phone calls that come into the 911 center. The Pasco County Public Safety Communications Center is a function of the Pasco Board of County Commissioners. Any complaints about the servicing of 911 calls should be directed to that entity.”
