Pedestrian Dies Following Crash in Holiday

An 89-year-old Holiday man died Feb. 23 after being struck by a car on Perrine Ranch Road.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that left one man dead Feb. 23.

Enrique Rodriguez Ortiz, 89, of Holiday was attempting to walk northbound across Perrine Ranch Road, just east of Olde Farm Road, around 6:50 p.m. last night, Feb. 23, when the accident occurred, a highway patrol media release said.

Ortiz, the release said, crossed into the path of a 2002 Saturn driven by Gladys Devos, 89, also of Holiday, and was struck by the car.

Ortiz died at the scene, the release said.

Devos was uninjured.

Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
