Pedestrian Dies Following Hit-and-Run

Police are searching for the driver of the vehicle involved in the overnight crash.

A 31-year-old Holiday man died following a hit-and-run crash last night on U.S. 19 at Beacon Square Drive.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Joseph J. Vandoren was trying to walk from the east side of U.S. 19 to the west side around 9 p.m. April 10 when he was struck by an unknown vehicle. The vehicle was traveling south on U.S. 19 near the intersection with Beacon Square.

Vandoren was taken to the Medical Center of Trinity where he later died, a highway patrol media release said.

Troopers are asking residents for help in locating the driver of the vehicle. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Cpl. Jim Covert at 813-631-4020.
