Police Investigating Suspicious Death

A man's body was found in a home.

New Port Richey Police detectives are investigating the suspicious death of an unidentified man whose body was found in a residence behind a Citgo gas station.

Police officers and Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies went to a residence at 7440 U.S. 19 around 5:30 p.m. Monday after receiving information that a dead person was inside. The gas station near the residence is located at U.S. 19 and Belleview Avenue.

Law enforcement officers found the body of a dead man “in his late teens or early 20s” at the residence, which had reportedly been vacant, according to a media release distributed Tuesday.

“It was determined that the apparent circumstances of the scene were suspicious in nature,” according to the release.

The department opened up a homicide case and has sent detectives and crime scene technicians to the residence.
