The New Port Richey Police Department will become one of about 600 agencies in the country using the vehicles that emit no air pollution. The company, T3 Motion, Inc., based in Costa Mesa, Calif., says the vehicles provide high visibility for officers while standing on the platform as well as an elevated view over crowds. They also can maneuver through tight spaces as well as can be used on streets.

They cost about 10 cents a day to operate and can be set for speeds from 5 mph to 20 mph.
